Sacred Music Project
The Sacred Music Project is a development project in response to the call of Pope Benedict XVI for an “authentic updating of sacred music… in line with the great tradition of the past”. It seeks to “cultivate sacred music and increase its store of treasures” while promoting the rich tradition of Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony and aiding its use in the liturgical life of the Church. The Sacred Music Project seeks to provide an interface for the collection and organization of sacred music resources that have begun to appear online in recent years and continue to appear every day. It hopes place the treasures of the Church’s sacred music patrimony at the fingertips of ordinary music directors, scholas and choirs. The Sacred Music Project seeks to aid in the great Renaissance in sacred music that is currently underway and to assist in its development. Sacredmusicproject.com is currently in a second phase of development and is seeking composers of sacred music who may want to participate in the project. If you may be interested in participating in some way please contact us.
